of Repairing Our World
One afternoon at King’s College at the University of Queensland, the dining hall needed to be reset for a formal event. The layout had changed and the rows of chairs were all wrong. While others walked past, you stopped. You grabbed the first stack and started moving them into place. One row became three. Three became ten. It was simple, physical work, but it mattered. The spacing had to be even. The aisle had to be clear. The room had to feel right. A few others joined in. You gave clear direction, kept things organised, and made sure it was done properly. No fuss. No big speech. Just getting it sorted. By the time the event began, the room looked effortless. Most people would never think about how it came together. But you knew. Sometimes leadership is not about being on stage. Sometimes it is about setting up the room so others can step into it.

Myself and most of the first years, helped to remove and replace the Dining Room with chairs for a special event tonight. We all got around each other and worked as a team so we got the job done pretty quickly. This felt worthwhile because we were helping the kitchen crew out and lightening their workload which is the least we can do considering how much they do for all of the students.

I helped move chairs from the dining hall to the chapel. This was then followed by removing chairs from the dining hall to outside and bringing the new chairs in.

My dear friends and I connected through carrying some light weight chairs out of the dining hall. We helped by making the kitchen staff job easier and less cardio. Throughly enjoyed this experience, would recommended.

I helped repair our world by helping set up the dining hall. I removed all the wooden chairs from the dining hall and replaced them with the black Tiffany chairs. This was to help set up formal dinner on Friday.
