Green Brand decided that they could make a difference in a highly environmental-impacting industry by reducing our industry's carbon footprint. While there are other products on the market, like organic or bamboo, the fact is that there is no substitute for recycling. Organic products, while reducing the amount of pesticides, require more land and water to grow. Bamboo products, a reusable resource that needs to be heated to 600 degrees to produce shirts, which obviously uses large amounts of environmental unfriendly products. Neither product reduces the amount of waste that arrives in our landfills each day.

The process that we use not only reduces the amount of product going into waste dumps but also reduces the amount of land and water and, in turn, pesticides used to grow cotton by recycling table end scraps. Green Brand offers the opportunity to enjoy the comfort of cotton and cotton blends while still reducing environmental impacts through reusing and recycling.

Why Recycle Cotton? - Recycled cotton may be the most environmentally friendly fiber on the planet. It is made from pre-consumer cotton "table waste" clippings from cut and sew facilities that otherwise would be dumped in landfills. Recycled cotton doesn't need to be dyed and no chemicals or liquids are used in the process.

Recycled cotton eliminates/reduces the use of:

  * Harsh dyes and chemicals
  * Pesticides

Recycled cotton also:

  * Takes less energy and water to process
  * doesn't take the manual labor or land use that is required for      conventionally grown cotton
  * Helps divert the millions of tons of textile waste that enter our      landfills each year.

Facts:

  * There are currently five to six billion pounds of pre-consumer      cotton "table waste" from cut and sew facilities finding its way      into landfills in the U.S. alone. -Green Steps Journal

  * Cotton uses approximately 25% of the world's insecticides. Closer      to home, cotton consumes 60% of all insecticides applied in the      U.S.A -USDA-
